Mack’s brewpub Ølhallen is the oldest pub in Tromsø. Currently the pub offer a menu of Norwegian quality beer from 72 taps.
Ølhallen is one of the most iconic venues in Tromsø. It’s a place where townspeople of all ages meet and taste the best beers brewed by Mack – The world’s most northern brewery.
Here you can rent either the whole
Ølhallen or just the south side of the pub, depending on your needs and what
sort of event you are planning. Ølhallen is suitable for most arrangements, but
it’s the most popular use is celebrations or get-togethers. The atmosphere is
rustic and cozy.
Direksjonen & Haakonsbar is the old office space of the late Ludwig Markus Mack. Together with his own Irish bar this is a one-of-a-kind room. The integrity and history of this room suites both formal and informal occasions. The atmosphere is bright and neat. Thereby it’s been a popular use when it comes to graduation, presentations and meetings. It’s also suitable for smaller get-togethers.
Ludwig Mack Stuene ("stuene" meaning the the lounges) was the home of Ludwig Mack and his family. Most of the furniture and decorations are kept as they were in the old days.Today, Macks Ølbryggeri use "Stuene" for special occasions as well as having the opportunity to rent out the venue. The apartment consists of a large dining room, an equally large living room, kitchen and toilets. This facility has a more elegant feel, and it is more suitable for fine dining or classy celebrations.
In the autumn of 2012 Mack moved the main brewery, after being located in Tromsø for 135 years. In our historical buildings in Tromsø we arrange daily guided tours where you get to know the history of Macks Ølbryggeri, from past to present. You will also be given a short presentation of the ingredients that are components in the brewing of beer, the brewing process itself, our range of beer and a visit to our microbrewery.

Mack Mini-Tasting in Ølhallen is an effective tasting where the pub serves and presents a tasting-tray with five different beers from Mack. You will also get a brief presentation of the history of Mack Brewery and Ølhallen. After the presentation there will be plenty of time to taste the brewery's products on your own.
Mack Beer Course is a longer and more profound tasting. The guide will go through five different types of beer and describe them along the way. There will also be focus on the brewing process and what makes the difference between the styles of brewing.
We regularly oraginize courses in homebrewing. We would like to invite you who seek fundamental knowledge in beer-brewing, as well as you who want to further develop the craft. The course starts with the most basic of raw materials; malt and water. We proceed with process until we end up with a finished product. After the course you will have knowledge to brew your own homebrew, just the way you like it.
